Note: If your child attends a Catholic school, they need register for and attend our parish's Confirmation Prep Classes.

NEW ARCHDIOCESAN GUIDELINES UPDATE: For 2025-26, St. Ignatius will welcome students entering BOTH 8th & 9th grades ONLY to begin preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation. Within the following 2 years, our Parish will sequentially phase in younger grades, according to new guidelines from Archdiocese of Baltimore, that recommend Confirmation Prep taking place in Grade 4. Age appropriate catechesis will be offered for school age children in addition to the sacrament preparation. For children planning to participate in sacrament preparation for Confirmation and First Holy Communion and First Reconciliation are required to be enrolled and participating in a formal faith formation or religion class the year prior to and the year of the sacrament preparation.
TRANSITION TIMELINE: Parents may refer to this timeline chart to determine when their child(ren) will become eligible to enter Confirmation Preparation under the new guidelines. You are asked to please adhere to this phased-in schedule to facilitate the process and not request Confirmation for your child(ren) outside of the designated year.

As always, to receive the sacrament, one needs to be open to growing in his or her relationship with God and have a firm foundation in the teachings of our Catholic faith. Regular attendance at weekend Mass is essential to one's spiritual preparation.

CONFIRMATION PREP SCHEDULE
Parents' Meeting: Parents of 8th & 9th graders are asked to attend one informational session (Confirmation, Conversation & Coffee) to learn about the sacrament preparation process for students, as well as to receive all forms and support materials. (Students are welcome but not required to attend.)

Service and Training: All students age 14 & over are required to compete the Archdiocese Worthy of the Call training to be eligible participate in volunteer service at the Parish. Please contact the Youth Ministry office for information.
