The doors of our Church are wide open! You are invited to come in! The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is a program of induction into the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. More than that, it is a faith journey designed to meet our fundamental spiritual needs as God’s children. It helps us identify with and become a part of a faith community.
The community developed throughout the OCIA process is one of lasting relationships. Our desire is to see people grow in their relationship with God, the Church, and each other. Our gatherings provide the opportunity for honest conversation, education and prayer in an intimate setting for your preparation journey.
Why OCIA?
Are you interested in becoming Catholic?
Do you want to deepen your personal relationship with Jesus Christ?
Are you seeking to learn about Catholicism as the result of an interfaith marriage or other relationship?
Have you not fully completed the Sacraments of Initiation?
Do you simply wonder what the journey entails?
The ultimate OCIA goal, to be Eucharist for the world, carries out Vatican II’s vision of what the Church is today: the manifestation of Christ’s presence and grace at work in the world.
Who is it for?
Those who simply want to know more about our Catholic faith.
The un-baptized who would like to learn more about the Catholic religion.
Those who were baptized in another religion who may wish to become Catholic.
Those who were baptized Catholic who have not completed the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation) or who have not been raised in the Catholic faith.
Adult Catholics who wish to return to their faith.
How long is the program? The OCIA program begins in September and runs a few weeks past Easter. Meetings are on Tuesday nights, 6:30-8 pm, with one full-day retreat on a Saturday later in the program. If our schedule permits, we also plan a Saturday field trip to a major Catholic site for fellowship and off-site learning. Those who have prepared to come into the Catholic Church are initiated at the Easter Vigil each year. Our 2025-2026 Schedule is available HERE
What if I miss sessions due to work or family? Our team is here for you. We are dedicated to helping you walk the path that God has for you. Sometimes, conflicts arise, and when that happens, we are happy to walk with you one-on-one.
What if I decide, after attending some or all the sessions, that I am not ready and/or able to enter the Catholic Church? The decision to enter the Church is yours and yours alone. Faith is personal. If you decide you are not ready or able, it is okay. We are here to walk with you on YOUR journey of faith.
History of OCIA OCIA dates to the very Early Church. It is the process where fully initiated Catholics walk with those seeking full communion with the church. During your journey, you will be prepared to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. Moreover, through the witness and prayers of the community, OCIA prepares you to enter a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. Then you can share your gifts and talents, at Christ’s call, to strengthen the Church.
