I'm very sorry to be writing under these circumstances. While St. Ignatius Parish cannot comment on an active law enforcement investigation, the allegations against Deacon Ken Goedeke are deeply troubling. Ken Goedeke began his recent employment with St. Ignatius June 1, 2026. Prior to this, he served part-time as a youth coordinator from 2020 to early 2022 and in different volunteer capacities including formation. At this time, we are not aware of any allegations involving St. Ignatius Parish, our faith formation programs, or other parish ministries.
Mr. Goedeke's faculties have been removed, and he has been suspended from ministry and employment by the Archdiocese of Baltimore pending the outcome of the investigation. According to law enforcement, the charges are not connected to any parish or school where he served.
The safety of our children and young people remains our highest priority. St. Ignatius & the Archdiocese of Baltimore maintain thorough safe environment policies, screening procedures, training requirements, and safeguarding protocols to help protect those entrusted to our care. We take these matters seriously and remain committed to transparency, accountability, and cooperation with law enforcement.
The parish and the Archdiocese will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement. Anyone with information relevant to this matter should contact local law enforcement and may also contact the Archdiocese's Office of Child and Youth Protection at 410-547-5348 or the Victim Assistance Line at 1-866-417-7469.
We pray together for all those affected by this situation. We know the Lord Jesus is faithful & true. He will show us the way forward.
